Increase in Donations helps the Bridge Fund Ease Financial Crises in Westchester

Owing to increased donations, the Bridge Fund—a privately funded group in White Plains, focused on preventing homelessless—will now be able to aid 7 percent more families this year over last year.

Lisa Buck and her husband’s story is a sign of the times. The two of them ping-ponged back and forth between employment and unemployment, until only Lisa’s husband held a job, but it wasn’t enough to support their family. With help from the Bridge Fund—which provides financial counseling and interest-free loans—they sold one of their cars, switched to a cheaper cable and internet service, and renegotiated their home insurance—holding them over until Lisa found a new job.
