Shedding some lovely light on whatever the subject is, this collection of beautifully designed lampshades is from Illumé New York, a new venture from Ronald Scinto and Mark Candido, the pair behind the much-lauded Antique & Artisan Center in Stamford, Connecticut. A recent addition to Manhattan’s Design District, this Parisian-inspired gallery/workshop offers both bespoke and ready-made shades, all handcrafted and hand-sewn from imported Italian and Chinese silks and designer fabrics. Don’t want to wait 12 weeks for a custom lampshade? Check out its in-stock European-inspired offerings, many imported from Paris, Amsterdam, and Quebec, and including giraffe and lynx prints and high-gloss red and cobalt-blue lacquer designs. It’s open to both consumers and the trade; retail prices start at $85 for a small chandelier, $195 for painted shades, $245 for grasscloth, $550 for houndstooth, and $975 for Italian chiffon designs. Also offered: custom design and fixture repair and rewiring. For more info: illumenewyork.com; (212) 308-1400.
