The credit rests entirely with Robert Downey, Jr., who deftly charms his way through the entire movie. Spring for the two-disc special edition of the film, and you’ll be awash in Downey extras including a dozen additional scenes and his original screen test—as if anyone else could’ve even come close to getting the part.

Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho: Special Edition DVD Release Date: October 7, Universal Studios Home Entertainment It’s Halloween time, and those raised on the Hostel and Saw franchises need to watch (or re-watch) Psycho to see how to really creep somebody out. Not only is Hitchcock’s movie chilling without being gory, but the director proves again that scary stories can be well-made films, too. The newest edition of Psycho comes with a bonus disc of features, including interviews, vintage newsreels, and a deconstruction of the film’s most famous scene. Watch it and try not to worry next time you’re in the shower.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 20th Anniversary Edition DVD Release Date: October 28, Shout Factory No matter how funny you think you are when making wisecracks at the TV, the guys in Mystery Science Theater 3000 did it better. (Sure, they had the help of robots.) The 20th Anniversary Edition DVD of the ’90s cult hit comes with four of the show’s most requested episodes—First Spaceship on Venus, Laserblast, Werewolf, and Future War—in addition to an oral history of the show, six versions of the opening theme, and a figurine of Crow T. Robot, all in a retro tin box.
