On Saturday, January 29th, over 200 people gathered at the Greentree County Club in New Rochelle, NY for the Hillside Food Outreach 9th Annual Dinner and Auction with New York Yankee Legends Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada. Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada answered a live Q & A about their careers, and Bernie Williams gave the guests a special performance with his band. Bernie Williams is an honorary Board member, and has delivered groceries for Hillside and now assists Hillside with fundraising and creating awareness. Kathleen Purdy, Executive Director of Hillside said, “Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada did a wonderful job and helped create awareness around the event this year.” According to Kathleen, the money raised goes toward outreach to help purchase food for home delivery for people throughout Westchester and Putnam that are in need of assistance with food. “A lot of people have lost their jobs or got cut back, food prices are sky high, the seniors are having a hard time keeping up, people can’t find jobs and now more than ever we need help because we can’t keep up with the growing need,” said Kathy. If you are interested in becoming involved with Hillside, you can help by making donations of “money, food, or volunteering.”
About Hillside: Hillside Food Outreach is the only not-for-profit organization in Westchester and Putnam County that home-delivers groceries to more than 1900 needy neighbors on a monthly basis—regardless of age, race, religious belief or disability. With a food warehouse based in Thornwood, New York, the outreach is comprised of four staff members and over 350 dedicated volunteers who pack and deliver the food.
