We all scream for (free!) ice cream on May 12, Häagen-Dazs’ Annual Free Cone Day. The kickoff to summer event invites patrons to visit their local Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop between the hours of 4 and 8 pm for a complimentary scoop of ice cream, sorbet, or gelato in a classic sugar cone. In addition to the usual chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, the Bronx-born brand also offers a more inventive line of flavors like green tea, pineapple coconut, and dulce de leche. Sorbet comes in mango, orchard peach, raspberry, and zesty lemon varieties, and popular gelato flavors include black cherry amaretto, sea salt caramel, and limoncello.
In addition to free ice cream, Häagen-Dazs plans to unveil its first new renovation in eight years at more than 200 locations across the country.
All in all, the company hopes to top last year’s number of free cones served, which was estimated at more than 280,000 scoops nationwide.
