Yes, you’ve just maxed out the credit cards on holiday shopping. But, if you—and your wallet—have recovered enough to hit a few more stores, January is a terrific time to scoop up bargains and save big. Check out great buys on:
Bed Linens. The traditional department store white sales—and their 15- to 50-percent-off discounts—continue. You’ll see big savings at Bloomie’s (175 Bloomingdale Rd, White Plains 914-684-6200) during its January Home Sale from January 8th through the 19th. And mark your calendar to get the absolutely best prices of the season at its one-day home sale on January 31 (with a preview day on January 30).
Holiday cards, decorations, and wrapping paper. We know you’ve ODed on ornaments and reindeer gift wrap. But, only 359 shopping days remain until The Big Guy makes his 2009 appearance. During the first three weeks of this month, head over to The Paper Tree (2 Palmer Ave, Scarsdale 914-874-5379) or Papyrus (51 S Moger Ave, Mount Kisco 914-666-0501) to save 50 percent on all holiday cards, gift wrapping, and decorations. Papyrus’s own gorgeous line of cards also will be offered at 75 percent off at its Mount Kisco location.
Clothing. Because cozy winter clothes make for such popular under-the-tree presents, sales of them slow significantly after the holidays—and many retailers respond by dropping prices dramatically in January. Stop by Outerluxe (1951 Palmer Ave, Larchmont 914-834-2345) during this month and save 30 to 50 percent on all fur, leather, shearling, and down jackets, parkas, and coats. Or visit women’s fashion boutique Beginnings (1128 Wilmot Rd, Scarsdale 914-725-2657) and enjoy 70 percent off savings on all winter clothing.
