Ever dream of starting your very own business? Enter Start Me Up, a company founded in April by 59-year-old Irvington resident Paul Lewis, which helps new businesses get up and running.
“People are afraid to start a new business,” says Lewis, who has a bachelor’s in management from MIT and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.“ We take the worry out by doing the work ourselves.”
Services Lewis provides include finding office space; setting up bookkeeping; purchasing insurance; opening bank accounts; setting up computer, telephone, and fax networks; designing and marketing websites; and arranging the payroll process. Start Me Up charges anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000.
“Lewis set us up soup to nuts,” says Edward Merhige, who opened Resnick Search Group, a Manhattan-based financial-services recruiting company—thus far Lewis’s only client. “The best part is that it didn’t take as long as I thought it would. After we signed our lease, it took a couple of weeks to get everything together.”
