Rob Diamond, manager of Wallauer’s in North White Plains, shares his tips for painting your front door:
When choosing a color, take the siding, roofing, and shutter colors into account. Typically the front door is the darkest color on the exterior—except, on occasion, the roofing color. Look for a color with a good light reflective value or LRV. This is a system that indicates if the color will fade sooner or later. Use a dedicated exterior paint, like Benjamin Moore MoorGlo or MoorGard. Start by washing the door with a house cleaner and let it dry for 24 hours. If needed, lightly sand the door to create a profile for the paint adhesion.
The below door was painted with Sherwin Williams 6485 Raindrop Paint in a matte finish.
