How cool would it be to be able to trace the recycled wood used in a new piece of furniture? Now you can, with this loft-perfect collection of furniture made from lumber and metal reclaimed from the classic barns and old buildings of the Northeast. Produced by Red Rooster Designs in Alexandria, Virginia, each piece comes with its own identity kit that includes a letter of authenticity about its provenance, as well as a photo of the original structure. The offerings are the brainchild of designer Kristian Dixon. “While doing a lot of custom design work for my clients,” Dixon says, “I discovered I loved mixing old and new materials to create new pieces.” After about seven years, she founded Red Rooster. Each handcrafted piece is chic but functional. Simple metal bases are topped with weathered wood. Prices range from $449 to $1,800; custom orders are welcome.
