Best Party–2009

By: John Bruno Turiano

At the risk of sounding immodest, Westchester Magazine sure does know how to throw parties. Just ask the 3,000 or so residents who showed up at this year’s Best of Westchester fete, produced by this magazine, of course (our marketing department deserves the credit). The event, held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, gave guests an opportunity to sample some of the best of what our county has to offer: top-line lobster rolls, great sushi rolls, terrific drinks, massages, haircuts, you name it. The word heard most often: “Wow!” And what’s more: the Westchester Children’s Museum received $3,000 from the evening’s raffle.

Going Dutch

More than 300 guests attended the Hudson River Museum’s premiere gala of the year, dubbed “Dutch New York, A Hudson Valley Celebration.” The gala took place in the museum’s newly renovated Hudson Room, complete with a terrace overlooking the river. “Beyond being an important source of support for our exhibitions and programs, the gala is a chance for us to recognize people who have made significant contributions to the Museum’s work,” says Museum Board Chairwoman Jan Adelson. About $210,000—approximately 10 percent of the Museum’s annual budget—was raised.
