Take Me To The Auction

A star-filled crowd came out to support Riverkeeper’s art auction, helping to raise more than $235,000 to safeguard New York’s water resources. The event was held at the Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building in Manhattan. “Nearly five-hundred Riverkeeper fans, including Bedford’s Bill Abranowicz who founded and curated the event, helped make it a spectacular evening,” says Alex Matthiessen, president of Riverkeeper. Deborah Harry and guitarist Paul Carbonara performed. Among those who came to bid on the approximately 30 photographs and artworks: Matt Dillon, Gloria Rubin, Richard Gere and wife Carey Lowell, Martha Stewart, Lauren Hutton, and Richard Belzer as well as Riverkeeper board members Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., John McEnroe, and Lorraine Bracco. Riverkeeper is a Tarrytown-based environmental watchdog and enforcement organization founded by a group of concerned fisherman in 1966.
