Food Stamp Usage On the Rise in Affluent Neighborhoods Like Katonah, Larchmont, Somers

Here’s one you probably didn’t expect—ever thought you’d see someone living in a $2.8 million home making ends meet with food stamps? Areas like Larchmont, Somers, and Katonah are just a few examples of areas seeing a rise in food stamp usage. According to the owner of Mamanoreck Avenue Food Market in White Plains, sales from food stamps have jumped to $5,500 a month from less than $1,000 a month.
