Briarcliff Manor—The Briarcliff Manor Public Library hosted a class to teach middle- school students how to program their own video games. Coordinator Amy Kaplan used Scratch, a program that teaches the basic steps in creating video games, for the class, and students shared their final projects online.
Pelham—An officer who investigated an illegally parked car on Corlies Place was surprised to discover a passenger reclining inside—with a .32-caliber handgun on the floor. It was determined that the individual has been a suspect in a number of local crimes and is now being charged with seven counts of first-degree robbery. He faces up to five years in prison for each count.
Mount Kisco— Businessman Thomas Nastasi was busted for allegedly using the payroll taxes he withheld from his employees to subsidize a lavish lifestyle—including the purchase of his yacht.
Port Chester—The three-month-long amnesty program for construction done without permits on homes expired December 31. The amnesty was meant to protect village residents from being held accountable for building code violations, by eliminating or reducing fines, in order to encourage greater compliance.
Rye Brook—A small plane made a crash landing not far from the Westchester County Airport. The only person on the plane was the pilot, who suffered minor injuries.
