Through an exquisite wall of windows and French doors, light floods into the family room with its cathedral-height ceiling from which a wrought iron chandelier hangs. Still, the space maintains an intimate, warm atmosphere, thanks to its maple red walls and dark wood floors. Mission-style furnishings are arranged around a stone chimney complete with a wooden mantlepiece and a television that hangs over it. Red accents ricochet between the room’s major pieces—its leather chairs and muted floral-print sofa—and decorative elements, such as the stunning Peruvian mirrors and the rich red and olive-green carpet. “I wanted to make it feel like the items in the room have been collected over the years,” says founder and chief designer Fred Mastroianni of Elemental Design Concepts in White Plains.
