Greetings!
After much anticipation, the hospital’s new main entrance and lobby opened in the spring. We have received many positive comments from patients, staff and visitors who appreciate the lobby’s central location, which provides easy access to all of our hospital services. Everyone admires the beautiful décor and comfortable seating areas, and the specialty coffee shop is extremely popular.
There is a welcoming feeling as you approach the hospital, with seasonal landscaping on the traffic circle in front of the entrance and on the opposite hillside. Benches in the garden area next to the MRI Center and along the sidewalk on either side of the main entrance provide a particularly relaxing setting for patients, visitors and staff.
Nearly two years have passed since Phelps became part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, which changed its name last January to Northwell Health. You are no doubt becoming familiar with the Phelps Hospital/Northwell Health logo as it is being displayed throughout our campus and in our ads and publications.
Finishing touches on the hospital’s new main entrance took place in June, when “Phelps Hospital” letters were mounted over the canopy and an illuminated sign featuring the Phelps/Northwell logo was attached to the façade near the top of the 755 building. In addition, new colorful parking lot banners were installed to make it easier for people to remember where they parked.
Although we have referred to ourselves as Phelps Memorial Hospital Center over the years, our legal name has been (and continues to be) Phelps Memorial Hospital Association. In an effort to simplify, we have started to use the abbreviated name “Phelps Hospital,” which we think goes well with our new logo and is easier to say and write.
Despite our new look and the use of a shorter version of our name, Phelps continues to be your community hospital, providing all of the same services, and more.
