The City of Rye is privileged to have a superior haute French restaurant in La Panetière; and, as of April 2014, Rye can count an informal French restaurant among its fortunes, too. Encore, with its ceramic tiled walls, red leather banquettes, and menu of moules frites, roasted duck breast, croque-madames and monsieurs, and tarte Tatin, is a quintessential French bistro, like those found in almost every neighborhood in Paris. And the three-course prix-fixe lunch Monday to Saturday for $14.50 has us humming Edith Piaf tunes.
