Electric Guitar Inventor Les Paul Passes Away in White Plains

Les Paul, a jazz guitarist who helped pioneer the sound or rock and roll music with his development of the solid-body electric guitar, died of pneumonia today at White Plains Hospital. Paul, who was 94, was known for recording innovations such as overdubbing, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.
