As its name suggests, domestic dry goods company calls to mind the old-fashioned mercantile stores with founder Erin Hinchey showcasing uncommon, only American-made, premium offerings for the garden, home, and gourmand. The shop has a Brooklyn vibe, with many of its products from that borough’s artists and vendors, including handmade pottery, bath items, pillows, and “make your own brew” kits from the Brooklyn Brew House. “Brooklyn is a Mecca for creative artists and manufacturers and many hip New York City boutiques carry a lot of Brooklyn companies because it is synonymous with cool,” says Hinchey. “I know that there is a deficit for this type of merchandise in Westchester and that is one of the many reasons I went in that direction.” All handpicked items, and some custom-designed by Hinchey, come in a range of prices—most under $100—and are not sold elsewhere in the County. Fresh plants and flowers arrive daily from New York City wholesalers with “Bouquet to Go” arrangements at $20.
