The positive developments occurring in Yonkers aren’t happening only at the downtown riverfront. The $685-million uber-shopping destination Ridge Hill opens new stores seemingly every week. And the venerable Cross County Shopping Center finished a $350-million expansion and announced that a dilapidated eight-story hospital and office building is going to be converted to a Hyatt Place hotel, a first for southern Yonkers.
Meanwhile, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway, where gamblers from the tri-state go to deposit truckloads of quarters every day, completed three phases of its $285-million renovation and topped it off last year with another one worth $50 million.
A bit further afield from downtown, Ginsburg Development Companies dusted off its plans for The River Club on Warburton Avenue, 330 apartments in two towers to be built at a cost of $107.5 million.
