As far as we can tell, no Westchester ’hood has made it onto the list of Most Dangerous Cities in America. And we’re darned proud of that. Still, we wondered what Westchester’s menaces to society were doing to get cuffed—or, at the very least, to have the cops called on them—so we conducted our own completely unscientific investigation.
Sleeping Under the Influence
DUIs are not funny and we have to admit we were a little shocked at just how many people were arrested for drunk driving in the last few months. But, falling asleep while you’re being booked for it? That’s kind of funny—and that’s exactly what happened to a Port Chester man back in early October. He was later released on $200 bail.
Bare Bones
A South Salem resident called the cops, suspecting someone had broken into her home and left what she thought were deer bones on her couch. Turns out it wasn’t a dead deer or a robber after all—just the head of a stuffed animal left on the couch by her dog.
Pool Party
In August, a Briarcliff man was arrested for allegedly skinny-dipping in his neighbors’ pool. As it turns out, the man was a Yonkers City Hall employee, who happened to be on vacation at the time of his arrest. He was charged with trespassing and indecent exposure, and was later freed on $1,000 bail.
Tomtom Tip-Off
One homeless man may not have had a roof over his head, but he did have two GPS systems in his pockets when police arrested him. The man was linked to several car break-ins in the weeks leading up to the arrest.
Quick Cash
Perhaps the two men who stole the cash register from Tighe’s Tavern in White Plains thought they could make a quick killing. Unfortunately for them, they were arrested after a witness spotted them trying to break it open on a nearby sidewalk.
Picture (Im)perfect
When a former student of Lewisboro Elementary School went back to his alma mater to snap a few pics, he never expected to have the police called. Turns out a school employee thought he was engaging in suspicious activity.
Petty Crime
A woman shopping in Dobbs Ferry called the police after discovering scratches on her 2001 Jeep. Scratches? On an SUV? In Westchester? We ask you, what is this county coming to?
