After almost three decades refinishing and restoring furniture for other businesses, Dennis Cummins and his partner, Milton Austan, of Modern Upholstering, Furnishing and Decoration in Mount Vernon pooled resources and expertise to start their business. “If we can’t do it, it can’t be done,” says Cummins.
Joshua Katz of Fabu Fabrics in Bedford Hills has more than 20 years of decorating experience, and considers himself an editor. “We have thousands of fabrics to choose from—but only three or four are gonna work for any given project. The trick is narrowing them down.”
