County is Number One in Train Commuting

We’re not just number one in taxes, but also in riding the rails. Census figures show that 14 percent of us commute to work via trains, more than any other county in the state. Nassau comes in at the number two spot, with 11 percent; Putnam trails behind at just 5 percent, Rockland 2 percent. Top zip codes for train commuting are Larchmont, 35 percent (3,593 commuters), and Rye, 29 percent (2,258 commuters). Both are on the New Haven Line of Metro North, which is still waiting for new trains.
