What happens when you take an incredible bakery and mash it up with a digital-technology lab? You get Chef Diane Forley of Flourish Baking Company in Scarsdale’s amazing summer program for aspiring chefs between the ages of 9 and 14 looking to learn more about ingredients and innovative ways of combining flavors.
Digital Arts Experience in White Plains is contributing advanced 3D printers so students can design and fabricate their own kitchen tools for use when whipping up Forley’s recipes. And along with creating custom measuring spoons, cookie cutters, and piping-bag accessories, the kids will get first-hand insight into the process that turns computer-screen pixels into a physical product.
Beginning June 27 (registration is still open) Flourish will host the students for most of the summer in 3 to 4 day blocks who can choose to participate in sessions such as cookies and pies, cupcakes and cakes, or even pizzas and breads, expanding outside of the sweet treats for the final class.
Registration is still open and the classes begin on June 27th in Scarsdale.
