The whimsical Courtly Check pattern, a key iconic element in ceramics and other handcrafted designs by MacKenzie-Childs, has made the leap onto fabric. M-C fans will want to check out its new Underpinnings collection of upholstered furniture in which the check is used with ticking stripe, a playful suggestion of mattress ticking. The new black, white, and gray upholstered pieces, says Rebecca Proctor, MacKenzie-Childs’s creative director, provide “a strong foundation for all us pillow nuts to express our love of color and layering.” The new collection includes a tufted-back love seat ($5,900), an oval cocktail ottoman ($2,800), and a classic Victorian-parlor-inspired accent chair ($3,400). Also offered are decorative accent pillows featuring the Courtly Check pattern printed on Belgian linen. Stuffed with a feather-and-down insert and finished with a signature purple zipper and logo zipper pull, the collection includes bolster ($170), reversible square ($150), and lumbar ($130) pillows, as well as a seat cushion ($250).
