Despite the 2-1 margin Democrats in Westchester hold over Republicans, Republican challenger Rob Astorino won the majority of votes in yesterday’s election for county executive. His win marked the end of a 12-year reign by Democrat Andy Spano.
Astorino had run a campaign promising the downsizing of government, and pledged to lower taxes in Westchester—which, a recent study revealed, are the highest taxes in the nation.
