Brooke Astor's Son Found Guilty; Future of Estate Remains Uncertain

Anthony Marshall, the son of New York Philanthropist Brooke Astor, who passed away in her Holly Hill estate in Briarcliff Manor in 2007, was found guilty yesterday of grand larceny and scheming to defraud. The verdict brings an end to the five-month trial accusing Marshall of stealing from her $200 million fortune.

Although the trial ended yesterday, a side contest is likely to continue in Westchester Surrogate’s Court to determine whether the distribution of her assets should be based upon her most recent will, or a 2002 version that donated a greater portion of her wealth to charity.
