Tagine
The third restaurant by the chef team of Jonathan Pratt and Craig Purdy (also behind Peter Pratt’s Inn and ümami café), Tagine is named for North Africa’s signature, cone-lidded cooking vessel and eponymous, slow-cooked casserole. Look for the new Croton-on-Hudson venture to mix French bistro standards with the spice-soaked flavors of Morocco. RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen
In one of the more stunning stories of 2012, partners Glenn Vogt and John Crabtree announced that Crabtree’s Kittle House, a Chappaqua institution since 1980, will debut RiverMarket Bar and Kitchen in Tarrytown’s Hudson Harbor development. The 6,700-square-foot LEED-certified complex will encompass a restaurant and bar, a Hudson Valley-sourced farmers’ market (with prepared foods), and RiverMarket Wine and Spirits: a retail store specializing in organic, local, sustainable, and bio-
dynamic wines and liquors. Slated to open in late fall 2012. Hudson Harbor, Tarrytown (no phone/website as of press time)
Jean-Georges Vongerichten/ Inn at Pound Ridge
While details are few, we do know that, in the autumn of 2011, Waccabuc resident Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten purchased the Inn at Pound Ridge (last incarnated as Emily Shaw’s), a Westchester landmark built circa 1833, with the intention of reopening the space as a restaurant. While rumors are unconfirmed as to whether Vongerichten’s Westchester menu might mimic that of Vongerichten’s famed ABC Kitchen or Spice Market, we do know that Vongerichten has installed Thomas Juul-Hansen, the architect behind Vongerichten’s Perry Street, to oversee the property’s extensive remodeling. 258 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge (no phone/web as of press time)
