At China White: a scorpion bowl for two. |
At the end of the workday, many PepisCo and MasterCard folks head down the street to this glossy minimalist bar, where cocktails are listed as “potions” and the food is free-range, organic, and unlike any Chinese food you’ve tasted in Westchester. Rectangular paper lanterns separate the dining room from the lounge area, affording a calming, Zen-like flow. Despite its super-modern, virtually all-white décor, the place never takes itself too seriously. Take the tiki cocktails, for example, which are listed as “a tribute to 1940s cocktail culture” and the made-for-two scorpion bowl full of crushed ice, rum, vodka, gin, fresh pineapple, and orange and guava juices with a Champagne float. For a drink that would make Don Draper proud, there’s the classic Singapore Sling with gin, benedictine, and Cherry Heering, shaken with fresh pineapple. If the drinks don’t impress your client, the fact that you picked this place will. We’re still smiling over the Magic 8 Ball that accompanies the check, giving you a new spin on the fortunes to come.
