We think a salon should look as glamorous inside as we do walking out, and the new Julius Michael Scarsdale (One Christie Pl, Scarsdale, 914-725-1123; juliusmichael.com) doesn’t disappoint; shiny patent-leather-finish white walls; sleek, slate-gray floors; ethereal-looking stylist chairs; and a drop-dead gorgeous bathroom. “I wanted to create a totally new client atmosphere,” says Michael, who specializes in color treatments, keratin straightening, and hair extensions—including the latest trends with feathers.
Michael and his business partner, Monica Wald, have created a sophisticated, welcoming retreat with state-of-the-art everything including built-in speakers, flat-screen TVs (for watching while you dry), and a gourmet coffee/cappuccino machine. The salon sells only products by Oribe, a high-end haircare line, created by celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales, Michael’s mentor and former boss.
