OVER THE MOON
The Moon 1969 fountain pen, handcrafted by Italian maker Omas, pays homage to the historic moon landings that year. The end of the pen’s cap is that “big, blue marble in the sky,” Earth, depicted with a polished lapis lazulis stone. The rest of the cap, which gets darker the closer you get to the barrel, represents the void of space between the Earth and the Moon. The barrel itself—aka the Moon—is textured in the pattern of the lunar landscape, and overlaid with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s “footprints.” And the curved, engraved clip? It represents—what else?—the flight path of Apollo 11. A limited edition (1,000 fountain pens), the Moon 1969 is also available as a roller ball (969 pens).
