County Executive Andy Spano said in a news conference this week that Westchester County, despite having few swine flu cases this year, now has a framework in place in order to combat swine flu.
He explained that web sites have been updated to help cope with the potential overcrowding of hospitals, should the flu epidemic begin to spread. In addition, special hotlines have been set up, methods for monitoring patient census have been put into place, and systems for tracking hospital supplies and staff are also now ready.
