Abigail Kirsch, founder of Abigail Kirsch Catering Relationships, made her first chocolate pudding at the age of seven, the first hint of her lifelong culinary career. So it should come as no surprise that one of the first things she did when she moved into her airy, Asian-inspired, modern Pound Ridge home was to gut the galley kitchen and turn it into a spacious, restaurant-quality prep space that any professional chef or devoted foodie would die for. She also enclosed the deck and transformed it into a dining room extraordinaire, perfect for the cadre of dinner parties for families and friends (her dining table seats up to 20 people) that she’s held at her house during the past 30 years. Adding to the warmth of Kirsch’s home is an international array of paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects that she and her husband, Bob, have purchased on dozens of cruises to India, Asia, Alaska, and other exotic locations. Here, Kirsch discusses some her favorites.
