Compared to the City That Never Sleeps, Westchester’s nightlife looks a little…sleepy. New York magazine lists 1,683 bars and clubs in its nightlife guide—and that number is surely conservative, considering that it only includes eight establishments in the Bronx. By comparison, this magazine’s nightlife database has just 114 establishments (or fewer than one tenth the number of hotspots in the City).
But it’s quality, not quantity that counts, right? And, as our massive Fall Arts Preview can attest (see page 88), we’ve got our own Damien Hirst exhibitions, New York Philharmonic performances, indie-rock concerts (hello, Andrew Bird in October!), off-off-off-off Broadway theater, and tony literary readings. Steven Freaking Spielberg is even coming to the Jacob Burns Film Center. We won’t find ourselves bored on any given weekend. And, if we do, anyone just want to stay in and watch a movie?
