3 Ways to Avoid Sand in Your House This Summer

Whether your family lives right near the beach or only enjoys visits from time-to-time, there is one thing you never want to bring home with you: sand.

To insist sand stays outside and never travels inside you’ll want to resolve the problem right at your front door and here’s how.

1. Invest in a vintage or wooden ladder to hang sandy towels on. You want a ladder that can also act as a decorative tool rather than just functional. Sandy towels can be hung on the ladder and never have to enter your house.

2. Try an oversized tin bucket that can be placed outside your front door for towels or to wash off sandy toes. Family members can drop their sandy towels and sandals in here and you can carry the bucket into the laundry without the sand ever touching your floor. Consider putting water in the bucket so the sandy can easily rinse off of items once they are dumped inside, or purchase two buckets: one for sandy beach items, and a smaller one with water inside to rinse feet off.

3. If you do not want to deal with contacting or hiring a plumber and spending a large sum of money on an outdoor overhead shower, you can adapt a showerhead to your garden hose. We especially like this style from Smart Furniture for $374.

Let’s keep a sand-free home this summer. This may be a challenging goal, but we think these are absolutely the solutions to achieve it.
