10 Top Westchester Fashion Pros: Lori Friedman, Co-Owner of Local Chain Great Stuff

Lori Friedman

Co-Owner of Great Stuff, a five-store local chain of women’s boutiques

Years in the biz: Thirty-two. First job: Showroom sales for children’s wear. Fashion icon: Miuccia Prada—she’s classic with a twist. Inspired by: Buying trips to Paris, Italy, New York City, and LA, and different cultures. Top recommended fall fashion item: Anything leather—a jacket, leggings, dress, or top. Biggest fashion splurge: A six-thousand-dollar black satin duchess gown by Bob Evans for my daughter’s wedding ten years ago. Always in her suitcase: Clothing by Handwritten from London—it drapes, washes, and travels so well. Daydreams of splurging on: The snake-eyed bracelet watch from Bulgari. Favorite designer: Ramy Brook—her colors and styles are perfect for the social lives of our customers. Vote for best-dressed TV characters: The cast of Downton Abbey. Favorite shopping haunts: Consignment stores and Parisian flee markets and antique stores—I love the hunt. Best vintage find: A brand-new Franck Muller watch with a diamond bezel. I paid six thousand eight hundred dollars for it at Consign It Greenwich in Connecticut, and it retails for around fifteen thousand.

Friedman is attired in a black crepe jacket ($298) and crepe tank ($198), both by Handwritten by Tanya Sarne; black techno-fabric stretch pants by Equestrian ($158); and a silk Faliero Sarti scarf ($498), all available at Great Stuff. Her bracelets are vintage Cartier from her own closet.
