World's Largest Slip-and-Slide Comes to Mount Vernon

Slide the City and their 1,000 ft vinyl track are bringing a waterpark to the streets of Westchester.

Who doesn’t have fond memories of sliding belly-first down the lawn over a thin vinyl tarp into a mouthful of waiting sod?

Well, imagine being an adult and solving all of life’s problems at a scaled-up slip-and-slide block party that road-trips throughout the U.S. every year. You can with Slide the City, which on Saturday, August 5 will be coming to Goshen in Orange County, and later, Mount Vernon on August 26.

The (padded!) 1,000-foot slide is the largest of its kind, and will first be set up on Goshen’s North Church Street between Village Square and Golden Hill Avenue. The rest of that distance will be filled with food, drink, and live entertainment. Later this month, the slide will make another appearance at 350 Gramatan Ave. in Mount Vernon.

Guests are encouraged to bring their floaties, buckets, (non-realistic) squirt guns, and assorted aquatic accouterments for a fun day of splashing in the sun. Sunscreen, and shoes for the pavement are also highly recommended. The only requirements are that sliders must be over the age of 5 and at least 46 inches tall, and have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian if they are minors.

Tickets for the Goshen Slide are currently $30 for three slides or $60 for unlimited sliding throughout the day, and come with an inner tube, drawstring bag, mouth guard, and in the case of the all-day tickets, a hat. Mount Vernon early bird ticket pricing starts at only $25 for unlimited sliding within one of two three-hour windows, or $45 for all-day sliding. Tickets may be purchased through Slide the City’s Goshen and Mount Vernon event pages.

Spectators (including documented service animals) are welcome, but should still expect to get wet, so dress accordingly. Vendors, performers, charities, and local photographers, videographers, and bloggers who would like to get involved can email info@slidethecity.com.

Slides will be held rain or shine, since guests will end up soaking wet regardless.
