From Katonah to Yonkers, communities throughout Westchester County host ceremonies and parades to honor those who served.

Memorial Day weekend is a time of year when we stop to honor those who served and lost their lives while protecting the nation. From local ceremonies and memorials to community-wide parades, there are a number of ways to celebrate throughout the region. Check out these different events throughout Westchester for the upcoming weekend.

Larchmont: On May 25, the Village of Larchmont will be holding its Memorial Day parade. The parade will kick off at 7 p.m. from Chatsworth Avenue Bridge and will end at Larchmont Village Hall.

Katonah: Katonah will be hosting a Memorial Day service at Lasdon Park and Arboretum on May 26 at 1 p.m.

Yorktown: The town of Yorktown will be hosting a Memorial Day parade on May 29 starting at 11 a.m. The parade will walk from Yorktown’s Town Hall to John “Jack” DeVito Gazebo located at Albert A. Cappellini Community and Cultural Center. The town will walk in remembrance of loved ones who paid service to the country.

Mount Vernon: St. Paul’s Church in Mount Vernon will have a brief ceremony at 11 a.m. on May 29 to honor veterans. This will be followed by a tour of the historic cemetery, where many World War II veterans are buried. At 2 p.m. there will be a presentation by Ranger Michael Callahan on the history of repatriation and memorializing of American service members who died in foreign wars in the 19th and 20th centuries. The city of Mount Vernon will be holding its parade the same day at 10 a.m.

Harrison: The town of Harrison will be holding its Memorial Day parade and ceremony on May 29 at 9:30 a.m. After a brief ceremony, the parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Town Hall, head over the Veterans Memorial Bridge, and end at the Veterans Building. Honored guests will be in attendance to make remarks.

Rye: On May 29, The Rye American Legion Post Auxiliary will host the Memorial Day parade down Purchase Street at 9:30 a.m. The parade will feature Legionnaires, marching bands, cyclists, and more. Post parade, The City of Rye will continue its tradition and honor deceased veterans at Rye City Hall.

White Plains: The City of White Plains invites everyone to join its Memorial Day parade on May 29 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at Church Street in Downtown White Plains.

New Rochelle: On May 29, presented by the City of New Rochelle Veterans Advisory Committee, Memorial Plaza will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The city will remember and honor veterans and families. A waterfront ceremony at Hudson Park will follow to honor those lost at sea.

Valhalla: Join the Valhalla community on May 29 for a Memorial Day parade and ceremony. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and goes from Westlake Drive down Columbus Ave. At 10 a.m. there will be a ceremony at the village green gazebo. After the ceremony, the American Legion Post 1038 will host a reception with hot dogs, ice cream, and refreshments.

Pelham: Pelham will host a Memorial Day parade on May 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The parade will be at The Manor Club.

Yonkers: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting a Memorial Day ceremony on May 29 starting at 1 p.m. in Yonkers. Light refreshments will follow.
