10 Organizations for Families to Volunteer With Around Westchester

From initiatives geared toward older adults to ones focused on food-insecure residents and students, there's something for everyone.

914 Cares: Armonk-based nonprofit supports and provides resources to local organizations, educating the community about poverty, and encouraging generosity. Volunteers can sort clothing, pack diapers, assemble Flow Kits, or pack Bags of Love. Parents with kids younger than 14 can work from home conducting donation drives, sorting donated books, or packing kits.

Afya Foundation: Volunteers sort and pack supplies for distribution to underserved areas and regions recovering from disaster. Volunteers age 15 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Community Center of Northern Westchester: Parents with school-aged children help support this Katonah-based center by receiving and sorting donations, assisting in the food pantry and clothing boutique, working in its Community Studio or Community Shop, making home deliveries, or assisting in fundraising efforts. Feeding Westchester: The Help From Home bag project provides students across Westchester County with breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, as well as snack bags and birthday bags. Families create the bags at home and donate them when they’re done.
