A summer trip in 2007 changed Stan Rosenberg. The three-week tour of the West Coast turned the then high school junior into a more confident person. It was the catalyst that sparked the creation of Trip of A Lifetime, a nonprofit that allows underprivileged children to have similar life-changing travel experiences. To date, Rosenberg’s Scarsdale-based organization—which consists of a five-member board and up to 15 interns—has raised more than $500,000 and sent 44 students on trips (with another 15 set to embark this summer), leveraging partnerships with more than a dozen corporate partners including American Express Travel, Morgan Stanley, and the New York Knicks. “There’s no better feeling than meeting our accepted students and their families—it makes all the nights and weekends worth it,” says Rosenberg, who also works as a strategy and operations business analyst at Deloitte Consulting. “I always try to go above and beyond in anything I put my mind to.” Wunderfacts: - Advertisement -
• Rosenberg was still a student at Scarsdale High School when he launched Trip of a Lifetime. While simultaneously running the organization, he went on to major in marketing and economics at NYU’s Stern School of Business, from which he graduated last year. • What’s it like running Trip of a Lifetime while working fulltime as a strategy and operations business analyst for Deloitte Consulting? “I view the corporate and non-profit worlds to be complementary; Deloitte has taught me to think more strategically about the organization and I’ve already been able to apply best practices from Trip of a Lifetime to my client work.” • The key to his success, says Rosenberg, is firm belief that “passionate people can get anything done. At first, I thought my age would be a disadvantage, but I have learned to utilize it as an advantage. It always amazes people what young professionals can do and they’re willing to extend a hand to help.” • The highlight for Rosenberg in the years running the non profit has been “meeting the thirteen students we accepted last year at our Summer Kickoff Celebration.” |
