With a big holiday weekend coming up, you could be forgiven for wanting to stay home saving up your energy for a big Memorial Day blowout, but this is Westchester and there’s always something fun to find around every corner.
If you’re looking for a little pre-BBQ shenanigans, here are some of our top picks for local events going down this week.
Wednesday, May 22
First up, nice weather calls for some outdoors time. The Westchester Parks Foundation will host Sunset Yoga in the Park at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. (The site of a few of our own Wine & Food Fest events, hint hint.) All levels or participants are welcome, and the 5:45 p.m. class is free, you just have to register in advance and bring your own yoga mat. Rejuvenate your mind and spirit with instructors from Tovami Yoga as you watch the sun set at a gorgeous Westchester park.

Later, pop over the border to Stamford’s The Palace Theatre to catch legendary rock band STYX performing live. Tickets are still available, starting at just $58.50. Come sail away starting at 8 p.m., with an exclusive Palace pre-show member event and VIP meet & greet beforehand.
Saturday, May 25
Is your kid a parade party pooper? Well luckily for them, the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center has adapted the beloved children’s book The Pout-Pout Fish for the musical stage with some truly amazing puppetry. You can snag tickets to the 11 a.m. show for $20, or wait for the more “relaxed” show at 2 p.m. which will better accommodate kids with sensory issues or other special needs.
Sunday, May 26
For outdoor fun, Somers’ Muscoot Farm is hosting a Meet the Babies day where kids and kids-at-heart can welcome the farm’s newest residents, born over the past season. Muscoot’s four-legged moms will be showing off their offspring from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., but plan to make this a whole afternoon outing as the farm is also holding an art show from noon to 4 p.m. all weekend featuring the Westchester Watercolor Group.
