If you’re looking for a way to spend the mid-winter vacation week in Westchester, head over to Lincoln Park in New Rochelle for a slew of seasonal festivities. For the first time, The City of New Rochelle is opening a week-long giant pop-up ice rink alongside local vendors. For those familiar with the ice rink the city puts up during its Holiday Market, this new rink is three times the size.
The pop-up rink will be open daily from noon to 7 p.m. between February 17 through February 24. No skates? No problem. Everyone can skate for free, with rentals available for no additional charge. Plus, the first 100 skaters each day will receive a warm complimentary cup of hot cocoa. For those arriving later in the day, there will be food from vendors available for purchase.

“We are so excited to offer our community one last taste of the joyous winter season here in the City of New Rochelle,” says Council Member David Peters (District 3). He adds, “Ideal for local families to visit while school is closed for mid-winter recess, we’re thrilled to be able to open the Lincoln Park ice rink and Winter Carnival as a fun and free activity for children and their families to enjoy!”
In addition to the sweet new rink, the city will be hosting a day-long Winter Carnival on February 21, with the help of the New Rochelle Community Justice Center. The Winter Carnival is open to all county residents and begins at 11:45 a.m. with remarks from Council Member David Peters and the New Rochelle Community Justice Center. It wouldn’t be a true Westchester Winter Carnival without activities for the whole family like arcade games, a bounce house, arts and crafts, and even wellness treatments.
After skating some laps, guests can grab grub, beverages, and artisan goods from one of the three small businesses spotlighted each day the rink is open. Local vendors will include Decota Naturals, Savage Custom Crafts, Sibalhe Teas, JMckinley Bags, Rays Empanadas, Taqueria del Valle, and others in a heated food café.
“We are delighted to bring an extra touch of winter magic to New Rochelle with the introduction of a pop-up ice skating rink and Winter Carnival at Lincoln Park. We wholeheartedly believe in creating regular opportunities for interaction and family fun, fostering a shared sense of identity and strengthening the bonds within our city’s diverse neighborhoods,” says Kathleen Gill, City Manager of New Rochelle.
