Locating the ideal healthcare provider was a daunting task until 1992, when Waccabuc resident John Connolly, EdD, and John K. Castle teamed up to create Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. — publisher of the prestigious America’s Top Doctors list.
“The truth and integrity that people place in our list is critical. Our mission isn’t to build egos but to help people find the best healthcare,” says Connolly.
A pioneer, Connolly nurtured relationships and successfully managed tremendous company growth. Today, Castle Connolly (which was recently purchased by Everyday Health) features more than 55,000 physicians.
Its vetting process is based on research rather than advertising dollars. Physicians must be nominated by their peers and undergo an extensive research process based on medical education, training, hospital appointments, disciplinary histories, residency, fellowship, licensing, and board certification. Doctors are then screened by a physician-led research team, which constantly reviews disciplinary and malpractice records.
Involved in healthcare for more than 30 years, Connolly was awarded three honorary doctorates, from Mercy College, Daemen College, and Worcester State University.
He serves as chairman of Castle Connolly Private Health Partners, LLC, a concierge medical company he helped launch five years ago. He’s also director of Northeast Business Group on Health and a member of the health policy forum at United Hospital Fund in New York.
“Connolly is widely respected for his generous spirit, willingness to provide good counsel, and for being a kind, caring individual,” says William Liss-Levinson, PhD, vice president, Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.
