Jessica Lynn, 25

Singer/Songwriter

Jessica Lynn isn’t just a country singer. She’s a Yorktown Heights-bred country starlet with a master’s degree in special education. And she’s not just politely knocking on the doors of success; she’s blowing those saloon doors off the hinges. Lynn—who’s been in the music industry since 13 and a published ASCAP songwriter by 16—has already had two nationwide television specials. The first, 2014’s “This Much Fun” was seen by millions and sparked a national tour, during which she shared the stage with Brad Paisley, Hank Williams Jr., and Lady Antebellum. Her second PBS special, “Takin’ Over” (filmed at the Paramount Hudson Valley) premiered this past April ahead of a second national tour this summer, during which she’ll perform with bigwigs like Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, and Toby Keith. “When I have a goal or dream, I work incessantly to make it a reality and don’t let negativity or other obstacles stop me,” Lynn says.

• What drew the native New Yorker to country music? “I was always drawn to country music’s storytelling. As a songwriter, the genre was so inspiring because it really could make you feel something when listening. The lyrics in country music were always so descriptive and meaningful and I wanted to be able to make music like that,” she says.

• Lynn started performing professionally at the age of 14, when she formed her first band, though she didn’t start performing country music until four and half years ago. “I decided to follow my heart and when I started dating my now-fiancé, all of this country music came pouring out of me!”

• After all this success, what’s Lynn hoping for in the near future? “I hope to be signed by a record label and to become a household name. I feel so blessed and lucky to be presently living out my dreams, but I hope that within the next year I am able to reach the level of success that I am still working to obtain.”
