When you think of West Point, you probably don’t imagine art classes. But 19th-century painter Robert W. Weir, a member of the Hudson River School, was an art instructor at the US Military Academy at West Point for more than 40 years. Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison, New York, is presenting his paintings, drawings, and prints in an exhibition titled Robert W. Weir and the Poetry of Art. With many works on loan from the West Point Museum, some of the art has never been seen in public. You can take a look from August 11 through November 30.
