Harvest on HudsonA spectacular setting both inside (grand Mission-style building with blazing stone fireplace and classy bar) and out (patio dining in a vegetable garden and walkways that connect to the Hudson River), patrons come here for Chef David Amorelli’s take on the traditional cuisine of Italy, as well as the sunset views.

Forty-North/Tennis Club of HastingsPerched atop this two-story building is a contemporary American restaurant serving seasonal fare with a 15-seat upper deck and 100-seat waterside lower deck; below are six Har-Tru courts where players practice their drop shots with views of the Palisades.

Hastings Station Café & Wine BarThe Hastings train-station depot makes for a charming space for this coffeehouse by day, wine bar by night.

Saint George BistroThis contemporary French bistro oozes charm (pressed-tin ceiling, marble-topped tables, mahogany bar); try the hand-cut beef tartare, Hudson Valley duck breast, and an absinthe fountain drink.

River RoadhouseA cash-only dive bar where the drinks are cheap, the music is loud, and the jukebox has primarily rock and metal tunes.

Galapagos BooksAmada Abad, who has owned this indie bookstore since 1997, offers more than 10,000 titles and has regular signings/readings from local authors.

Clockwork RecordsVinyl is cool again! This well-curated, tiny shop is a record collector’s dream, with a strong selection of  ’60s–current underground hardcore, punk, and metal, plus psych, ska, jazz, and a host of other genres.

purplA repurposed church that was originally built in the 1850s, the 2,500-square-foot purpl offers a contemplative, creative space for coworking, corporate retreats, professional development workshops, teen programs, and live music Fridays and Saturdays.

The MillThere’s a hipster vibe, rotating craft tap beers, and brick-oven pizza using house-made dough at this dinner-only gastropub, but the creative cocktails made with small-label liquors and premium bitters may be the biggest draw. Dirty Shirley or Splash the ’Gash anyone?

Taiim Falafel ShackSure, this Middle Eastern eatery has limited seating and is cash only, but one taste of the falafel, hummus, lentil soup, or shawarma will have you not caring.

By the Way BakeryThis small-batch, old-fashioned American sweet shop makes a killer coconut layer cake and a scrumptious sour cherry coffee cake. And BTW, everything is dairy- and gluten-free.
