As part of a whole-home renovation, the homeowners added a pool to their property. The design team created direct access from the indoor living space to the outdoor living space. The property had irregularities and was sloped, which presented a challenge for the team. The creative design consists of a raised terrace with an infinity-edge pool, which provides pool lounging and gathering areas as well as access to the pool and spa.

The family wanted to create a grand space in their backyard for entertaining, cooking, and play. The anchor was a multifunctional pool house where they could lounge, eat, shower, dance, and paint. The challenge was that the yard is a rocky terrain with over 100 feet of slope. The solution was to create a new floor by cantilevering the structure out over the slope. The final two-story house packs multiple functions into 2,150 sq ft.

The criteria for this Tudor-style pool house was to create a large family lounge area, pool support space, and rooms not available in the main house. The centerpiece of the pool house is the large lounge designed to provide a comfortable indoor/outdoor room for relaxing and watching TV that can also accommodate holiday dinners for 30 people. The final design connects well to the main house and the pool; however, the interior design is less traditional and more rustic modern.
