Are you looking to break free from the sameness of a typical Friday night? Instead of dumping half your paycheck on a second-rate flick at the local Cineplex or cursing that 7/10 split while wearing the previous guy’s nasty bowling shoes, try a more action-packed evening at Banana’s Axe Cabana. Open since September 2022, the 5,000-square-foot complex promises visitors an exhilarating experience that will have them stepping — or in this case, throwing — out of the ordinary.

For those over age the of 16, Banana’s offers 10 lanes, each set with a target board; adorning the lanes are bright string lights and colorful seating. And don’t worry about safety: Before the action begins, patrons are trained how to properly wield their axes. “The axes are not overly sharp, and the lanes are protected by safety nets,” says owner Stuart Bogaty.

Axe throwing isn’t the only activity Banana’s has to offer. It also has a selection of classic arcade games — which are open to people of all ages — like Air Hockey, billiard tables, a World’s Biggest Pac-Man, and more. So, if you’re not in the mood to channel your inner Paul Bunyan, you can prove your mettle in the arcade room.
But the groove at Banana’s is poised to get even sharper. Bogaty says that he’ll have his County-approved licenses for beer and wine, as well as hot food, come summertime. Armed with these expanded offerings, Bogaty intends to evolve the Cabana into a nightlife destination. In the meantime, soft drinks and snacks are already for sale.
Axe throwing at its finest.
You can reserve a lane accommodating up to four people for up to two hours. Though you’re welcome to go solo, Bogaty recommends group outings because “it’s the perfect place for team building, professional groups, or a fun day with friends.” Banana’s also hits the bull’s-eye a prime venue for private events, such as birthdays or corporate functions, if booked in advance.
Banana’s Axe Cabana is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 5–11 p.m.; Saturday, noon–12 a.m.; and Sunday, noon–10 p.m. Two-hour sessions are $52, plus fees, per person; one-hour sessions are $32, plus fees, per person (bananasaxecabana.com).
