Light the Menorah

While many towns hold festive ceremonies (with seasonal snacks, of course), two of the biggest are in Yonkers. Ridge Hill lights its menorah, built from canned goods to be donated, on Dec 2, while Cross County Shopping Center throws a menorah-lighting celebration on Dec 3, with cultural music, dancing, activities, and food.

Drop Some Gs

On Dec 6, Chabad Jewish Center of Bronxville teams up with the Eastchester Fire Department to make it rain thousands of gold-foil-wrapped chocolate coins at its annual Gelt Drop. Music, hot latkes, and traditional fried doughnuts accompany the free Eastchester event.

Just Like Bubbie’s

Celebrate the holiday in all its fried, schmaltzy glory. A Taste of Westchester’s $38 class at Ben’s of Scarsdale on Dec 6 includes all the seasonal favorites, like latkes and rugelach, plus pastrami, pickles, Israeli-chopped salad, and more.

Pimp Your Ride

Sign up for Yonkers’ annual Car Menorah Parade on Dec 4. Led by police escort, the line of menorah-topped cars winds its way through town, ending with a party at Nahmias et Fils distillery.

It Takes a Village

Chabad of the Rivertowns annual Chanukah Village returns to Irvington on Dec 2. The street fair, which takes over the area surrounding Main Street, includes crafts, food, holiday train rides, and more. Looking for something North of 287? Check out Bedford’s Chanukah Village on Dec 4 for gelt giveways, dreidels, concerts, and kid-friendly story time.
