Child prodigies in music seem like an antiquated idea, as old-fashioned as Mozart. But when a young musician as brilliant as Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer comes around, socks are usually knocked off, whether you like it or not. The 14-year-old guitarist is far from a gimmick, having played across the country with some of music’s most idolized icons, including Buddy Guy, Stevie Nicks, George Clinton, and the Allman Brothers Band’s Derek Trucks (who himself was a master of his art at a very young age).
I mean, this kid has some serious chops, pulling inspiration from deep inside his soul unlike many other musicians on the scene these days. If you’d like to judge for yourself, head to The Capitol Theatre’s famed bar Garcia’s on March 31 to catch TAZ shred for a 50th anniversary celebration of Jimi Hendrix’s third studio album Electric Ladyland.
March 31 too far off? Don’t fret, Garcia’s has a fiery lineup set all month long, from the funk-fueled eight-piece brass ensemble The Soul Rebels (with the Jay-Z’s RocNation-signed Victory as support) to the spontaneous and electronic-infused Dave Harrington/Joe Russo Duo and more. For a full look at what’s to come check out the schedule below (our recommended shows in bold), or head to the Garcia’s events calendar here.
