6 New Year's Eve Options for 2014

Check out the new list for ringing in 2016 here.

Whether you’re looking to ring in 2014 with family and fireworks, with a multi-course meal and dancing, or with a wild night of open bars and 20-something singles, we’ve got you covered with these six surefire spots.

Downtown White Plains’s New Year’s Eve Family Spectaluar

Main Street between Court St and Renaissance Sq

For the loudest “TEN, NINE, EIGHT…” countdown in Westchester, check out the New Year’s Eve Family Spectacular in White Plains: the county’s answer to Times Square. Look forward to live music, a ball drop, a midnight fireworks display, and, if it’s “that” kind of night, plenty of bars nearby to cap off the evening.

For the Morning After:

42

One Renaissance Sq
White Plains
(914) 761-4242

For $210 per person, you’d be right to expect a lot, and 42’s Celebration Cocktail & Dance Party shouldn’t disappoint. Two Benjamins buy you 9 pm-to-2 am access to three buffets (appetizer, dinner, and dessert), an open bar, a live DJ, a Champagne toast, and, of course, a prime perch from which to enjoy the White Plains midnight fireworks. Alternatively, you can reserve a spot for dinner in the Sky Lounge, which, for $65 at 5 pm or $80 at 7:30 pm, buys you an appetizer, a main course, and access to the dessert buffet.

Half Moon

1 High St
Dobbs Ferry

(914) 693-4130

If waterfront dining is your go-to for special occasions, reserve your spot at Half Moon in Dobbs Ferry. You have two options: the first seating is 5 to 8 pm and, for $80 per person, features a cocktail reception, four-course meal, and wine and beer of your choosing; the real fun—or as they call it, the “main event”— starts at 8:30 pm and, for $170 per person, includes a cocktail hour, open bar, four-course dinner, live band, champagne toast, and, our favorite, late-night breakfast buffet, to go. Pay in full by December 23 and get 10 percent off.

12 Grapes

12 North Division St
Peekskill
(914) 737-6624

Peekskill’s go-to spot for wine and live music is ringing in 2014 with no shortage of… wine and live music. Opt for the second seating at 8:30, the Dinner & Dance Party, and enjoy a three-course dinner, a Prosecco toast at midnight, the top-secret “12 Grapes at midnight tradition,” and three hours of live music and dancing courtesy of The Chris O’Leary Band (freshly inducted into the New York division of the International Blues Hall of Fame). The earlier seating, beginning at 5:30 pm, is a la carte.

Bedford Post Inn

954 Old Post Rd
Bedford

(914) 234-7800

The Bedford Post Inn’s $145 second seating price tag does not include dinner with Richard Gere, the owner, but it does earn you a spot at one of the county’s signature dining destinations. The New Year’s Eve four-course menu offers high-end dishes like venison tartare or a risotto with squash, chopped truffle, and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. First seating, $95, is 6 – 7:30 pm. Second seating runs from 8 to 10 pm and includes a champagne toast.

Brazen Fox

175 Mamaroneck Ave
White Plains
(914) 358-5911

Stop here if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic evening with your mate. This option is for the 23-plus crowd (but not too plus, and yes, you must be at least 23 to enter) looking for a wild, open bar, all-you-can-drink option, packed with other 23-pluses. $100 buys you an open bar from 9 pm to 1 am, appetizers and snacks from 9 to 11 pm, and a champagne toast at midnight.
